Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. One thought on “Jesus and the Mystery of the Bronze Serpent”

  1. Understanding Jesus’ reference to the bronze serpent in the desert maybe argued as follows;
We learn that when the Israelites doubted God’s saving power by complaining to Moses,God released dangerous poisonous vipers that killed them.( The biblical Numbers episode)
Symbolically, snake represents sin as per Genesis 3 episode of the Bible n maybe alluded that their complaints were prompted by their short memory to recall God’s wonders in their lives.
Such short memory’s remedy may be alluded to be provided for in the Biblical episode of Exodus 12( the passover)
This is where they were expected to eat the unleavened bread / meal quickly while dressed for travel, with sandals on their feet with their sticks on their hands( Ezodus12.11)
All the above have got symbolic interpretations in reference to Ephesians 6.10-20.
But it may be argued that their short memory could be attributed to their low conscious levels to spiritual things / realms thus acting humanly as per the law.
We could as well argue the same ordeal befell Moses ( Exod7) when God wanted to kill him only prompting his wife to intercept with a circumsition rite to his son poor to placing the fore flesh at his foot, thus saving his life.
It could as well be argued that this why God repremands Moses to make a bronze serpent n hang it up for those who were bitten by those deadly vipers to draw their healings from by staring at the bronze serpent.
This could be alluded to mean that it’s our sins that prompts our spiritual death, but when we look at that bronze serpent,it reminds us of our offenses / faults, feel sorry for them n repent.
John 3 states the same mechanism whereby Jesus we deny / reject daily in our lives resulting to our sicknesses, lack, life challenges as our vipers causes our spiritual death while at the same time by looking at the crucified Jesus at the cross restores our salvation.
2.) A protestant with an illness can only receive healing through the Catholic Sacraments by believing in them.
I once presided over deliverance healing ministry prayers.
Having been prompted to carry with me my small cross from the house before the prayers.
I asked the congregation to open their eyes and look at the cross I was holding as was prompted in my earlier preparatory intercession.
I then asked them to close their eyes n I started singing the song I was given by the spirit when the congregation went wild crying, falling down, with others running away as I sang.
This went on for over an hour without myself being aware of events unfolding till when the prayers were ended.
It was then agroup of protestants who were attending the prayers approached n narrated their prayer ordeal / experiences with me.
They reported to me that immediately they closed their eyes, they continued seeing the crucified Jesus on the cross for a while then events changed as Jesus manifested from the cross to various images such as Jesus at the wedding in Canaan, healing the sick, the good shepherd, the feeding of the 5,000people,etc depending on their needs n thus receiving their healing / deliverence through sacramental( Faith basis) and most of them are now Catholics.
3.If God would have used evolution to produce the human race,Adam n Eve’s parents would have had souls.
4.) If a catholic wants to marry an atheist,he may need to catechize him / her first.
5.) Reverence restoration for mass can’t be achieved through Latin language but by ensuring mass celebrated in the languages understood by laity n more so empowering the Christians spiritually.
6.) Being unworthy to receive may mean having not been permitted / allowed by the Church while receiving unworthily may mean receiving while in a state of sin without prior preparations.
8.) Paul may be argued to mean works of the law ( Rom3.28) that upholding the lawc/ commandments without being able to see through the spirit beyond those laws without making them part of our living can’t save or bring life to faith.
It’s only by allowing the law to dwell in us by being part of us that bear faith translating to transformation.
Best wishes for God’s blessing n inspired night.
