Syriac Catholic Diocese in Mosul Burns As Conversion Deadline Passes

Syriac Catholic Diocese in Mosul Burns As Conversion Deadline Passes July 20, 2014

The news is chockful of bad news about the fate of Christians in Mosul.  If you’re not careful, your eyes glaze over and you shake your head and move on to the next story–because after all, it’s not happening here.

The burning of an 1800-year-old church is the latest in a series of burnings and desecrations by ISIS.
A Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian website released this photo of a church being destroyed.

According to Shoebat.com:

The burning of the church took place while forty five Christian families were escaping Mosul. Twelve Christian families were completely robbed by ISIS Muslim operatives.

This chaos is happening amidst the Muslim threat that states that Christians must convert, live as dhimmis, leave, or die. But no Christian has converted…. The Christians were given three days to arrive to a meeting and convert, but not one showed up.

Meanwhile, it’s reported that the Syriac Catholic Diocese in Mosul has been burned, with the full contents of its holdings.

The video below was posted to YouTube in December 2012, so is not of the most recent attacks; but it gives you an idea how desperate the situation is in that volatile part of the world.

Please pray for the Christians of Mosul.
