What do I mean?
Consider…
- Big social media outlets are filtering, censoring, shadow banning content and users, “deplatforming” those whose opinions are not “acceptable” to them.
- This is going to get worse as we continue to polarize.
- People who want to or who do use the interwebs for good, Catholic works usually don’t have the tech background to, say, be a server administrator or to unwedge problems as they arise… and they always arise.
- Building up a free standing site and keeping it updated and running is not easy. Not just anyone can do it. Believe me. I have practical knowledge of the problem, not theoretical.
Think about this if your parish or a priest is trying to set something up.
It is hard to find good tech help that is both capable and reliable.
I am happy to announce that…
WE DID IT.
We have formed the
We have a Patreon site to raise money so we can also pay – at least a little – the team members.
We have also teamed up with Roman Catholic Gear to provide “Thank You!” gifts to people who become Patrons of the Corps through Patreon.
- The “St. Isidore” Patron at $7/month will receive a Combat Prayer Book.
- The “St. Michael” Patron at $15/month will receive a .
- The “St. Gabriel” Patron at $25/month will receive a Combat Rosary™ in Gun Metal.
There are two more levels we are working on.
I love the allusion to the Army Signal Corps branch insignia:

“The Signal Corps branch insignia is represented by two signal flags crossed, dexter flag white with a red center, the sinister flag red with a white center, staffs gold, with a flaming torch of gold color metal upright at center of crossed flags.”

May the Angels guard this work, Father.
I have intimate experience with being taken offline this year, and I am actually shocked to have been able to even comment here these last few days. I have been unable to even access the Internet most days since August 2019.
Pray, hope, don’t worry, yet… be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.
Enlisted!
As a Navy Man, I’d prefer an image of a sailor running up the flags or using a signal lamp, but the soldier is A-Ok!
Great idea!
However the problems of the enemy controlling the hosting service (E.g., Google Cloud/Amazon/GoDaddy etc.) and of the enemy controlling the DNS/ISP needs to be solved. Otherwise they can take us offline in seconds at the first “complaint”.
Father, if there is a way to volunteer time, please do let us know. I have some significant experience.
I am very happy to see this coming online.
One thing to note: I originally volunteered my experience and David reached out to me. However, I never heard back from him after sharing my contact details. I would love to be a part of the corps if needed, but understand if you all are good to go as is.
Patreon’s one of the first things you’re going to have to replace; they’re little less censorious than any of the others.
(Not complaining, advising. This work has been needed for far too long, and still more will be needed before it’s all over.)
I’d love to pitch in (about a decade of experience in related areas, and a very fast learner), but I’ll have to get back to you after I take care of some loose ends here at home. I don’t even know how I’m going to maintain the time and energy to fulfill my duties as it is. The culture war caught me off guard big-time, among other problems facing the domestic church.
Excellent.
Perhaps the following is more applicable to short-wave and ZedNet, but this brings to mind a few lines from Rush’s “The Spirit of Radio”:
Begin the day
With a friendly voice
A companion, unobtrusive…
Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price
Almost free
